Wi-Fi/Airplane Mode/Flight Mode Alert

Last Updated: Aug 18, 2013 03:37PM EDT
When you have enabled Airplane (Flight) mode or disabled Wi-Fi in iOS Settings, you may see an alert message similar to the one below.
Network Warning
This alert is displayed by iOS because Downcast indicates to iOS during installation that it prefers Wi-Fi access. This preference for Wi-Fi is required to initiate the iOS login screen for "captive" Wi-Fi networks (wireless networks that require users to login or accept terms and conditions before accessing the Internet). Without this captive network login prompt, downloads and other network activity will fail with for no apparent reason available to the user.

An unfortunate side effect is that iOS prompts users about their Wi-Fi connection when Downcast is opened while in Airplane (Flight) mode or with Wi-Fi disabled. Because this behavior is set during Downcast's installation, it's not a setting that can be changed by users.
