Errors Enabling iCloud Syncing

It is possible that Downcast may encounter an error when enabling iCloud syncing. When this occurs, a warning message similar to the ones below will be displayed:

If the error message you see has does not have a "Reset" button:
  • Ensure that "iCloud Drive" is enabled in your iOS iCloud settings.
  • In rare circumstances you may continue to receive this error even if "iCloud Drive" is properly enabled. In this case try the following:
    1. Disable "iCloud Drive" in iOS iCloud settings
    2. Open Downcast and enable iCloud syncing
    3. Re-enable "iCloud Drive" in iOS iCloud settings
If the error message you see has a "Reset" button:
  • When this screen appears, the best course of action is to wait a few minutes and try enabling iCloud syncing again. If, after serveral attempts, iCloud syncing will not enable successfully, tap the "Reset" button to force iCloud syncing to enable. Note that after tapping "Reset" a restart of your iOS device is required.
  • If you are still unable to initialize iCloud syncing, try the following procedure:
    1. Disable iCloud syncing within Downcast on all devices
    2. On one (and only one) device, go to iOS Settings -> iCloud -> Storage -> Manage Storage -> Documents & Data section -> Downcast (there may be multiple entries) -> Edit and tap "Delete All"
    3. Try enabling iCloud sync on your iOS devices
    4. You may still see one or more initialization errors the first time. If so, tap "Reset" and follow the instructions.
